Sustainable travel
With an average emission factor of 27,8g of CO₂ per passenger km, traveling with FlixBus in Europe can cut one’s carbon footprint by almost 6 times compared to driving and 8 times compared to flying. In addition, when booking journeys, passengers can choose to offset their emissions by donating to the internationally renowned environmental NGO atmosfair. In 2023, Flix’s passengers avoided 1.1 million tonnes of CO₂ by choosing FlixBuses and FlixTrains over other modes of transport. Driven by increased awareness for sustainable travel, Flix aims to become carbon neutral in Europe by 2040 and globally by 2050. To assess its progress within a scientifically recognized framework, Flix established near-term targets for emissions reduction with the Science Based Targets initiative.
